About the Tour

Join our Myths & Legends Waterfall Kayak Adventure, a roughly 4-mile guided paddle across the scenic waters of Hilo Bay and into the mouth of the Wailuku River. This small-group excursion blends adventure, culture, and exploration as you paddle along one of the most storied coastlines in East Hawaiʻi.

Along the way you’ll pass Coconut Island (Moku Ola), once a sacred healing sanctuary where warriors swam for restoration, and hear the stories and legends that shaped Hilo’s coastline. Your guide will share local history while leading the paddle toward the dramatic waterfalls hidden at the edge of the river valley.

This tour involves sustained paddling and is best suited for guests comfortable kayaking for several miles in open water conditions where wind, current, and changing weather can influence the journey.

Note: Expect splashy decks and occasional spray—you will likely get wet during the adventure.
