Surfboard & Boogie Board Rental
Skip the surf shop. Rent an 8 foot soft top surfboard or a boogie board right in town, for a day or a full week. Boogie boards come with fins.
Need to get it to the beach? Ask for a vehicle mount. Pick up any time during shop hours. Renters must be 18 or older.

We inspect every board before and after your rental. You are responsible for damage, and repair or replacement costs may be charged.

Surf Smart
Hilo’s breaks are real waves. Most have rocky entries and strong currents. Know what you are paddling into.
- Ask us first. We will tell you which breaks match your level and the day’s swell.
- Watch before you go out. Spend a few minutes reading the sets, the current, and where people get in and out.
- Respect the lineup. Locals surf here every day. Wait your turn and do not drop in.
- Never surf alone. Bring a buddy and keep each other in sight.
- Give honu space. Stay at least 10 feet away and never touch them.
FAQs
What is a soft top?
A surfboard with a soft foam deck. It floats well, catches waves easily, and is much kinder if it hits you. The best board for learning.
Surfboard or boogie board?
On a boogie board you ride lying down. It is easier to start and a lot of fun in shore break. A surfboard is for standing up and riding the wave.
Where should I surf?
It depends on the swell. Ask our staff when you pick up and we will point you to a break that fits your level.
When can I pick up?
Any time during shop hours. Online booking may show 9:00 AM, but that is just a default.
What if I damage it?
We inspect every board before and after. You are responsible for damage, and repair or replacement costs may be charged.
