About the Tour
Customize your ideal day on the water with our Private Charter experience. Whether you want a scenic cruise, snorkeling, wildlife viewing, a private dive session, photography, marine research, or a special celebration, this tour is built around your group. With a licensed captain and experienced crew, you’ll enjoy a safe, flexible, and unforgettable adventure in Hilo Bay and along the East Hawaiʻi coastline.
Private charters are perfect for families, couples, wedding parties, content creation, corporate outings, and groups looking for a more personal ocean experience. Tell us what you are looking for and we will help plan the best route and timing based on ocean conditions, seasonal highlights, and your group’s goals for the day.
What You’ll Do and See
Your private itinerary depends on the experience you choose, the weather, and ocean conditions. We can focus on sightseeing and coastline exploration, marine wildlife viewing, snorkeling, or certified diving experiences at sites that are only accessible by boat.
- Historic shorelines, volcanic lava flows, and lush coastal forests
- Waterfalls, sea cliffs, and panoramic views of Hilo Bay and the Hamakua coastline
- Marine wildlife such as sea turtles, dolphins, and seabirds (seasonal and not guaranteed)
- Snorkeling over vibrant reef ecosystems if requested
- Private certified diving sessions or advanced dive excursions if requested
- Special occasions, proposals, film, and photography sessions
Snorkel and SCUBA Notes
- Snorkel or SCUBA activities require an additional crew member and add $150 to the charter price
- If diving is included, a Hilo Ocean Adventures Divemaster is required unless an insured Divemaster or higher is onboard to lead the group
- Only certified divers may rent SCUBA equipment
- Introductory SCUBA experiences for non-certified guests must be instructed by Hilo Ocean Adventures staff and may include additional fees
What to Bring
- Reef-safe sunscreen and sunglasses
- Reusable water bottle
- Swimsuit and towel if swimming, snorkeling, or diving
