About the Experience
Spend ~3 hours learning the basics of SCUBA and experiencing an ocean dive in Hilo. Your program includes 45 min classroom, 45 min confined-water (pool), and a 45 min ocean dive led by professional instructors. One air tank, snacks, and beverages are included.
What You’ll Do
- Learn underwater breathing, equalization, and basic safety procedures.
- Practice essential skills in a heated indoor pool.
- Explore Hilo’s open water for ~45 minutes—look for reef fish and honu (green sea turtles).
Who Can Join
- Certified Divers: Show proof of Open Water or higher at check-in.
- Uncertified/Intro Divers: Must understand detailed instruction in English and be able to carry 50 lbs of gear unassisted.
- Complete and submit the PADI/NAUI medical questionnaire 72 hours prior to the excursion (provided after booking).
- Participants must successfully pass the classroom and confined-water portions to proceed to the ocean dive.
Policies & Safety
- Late medical forms or inability to complete all components are not refundable.
- No altitude/flying for 12 hours after a one-tank dive (wait 18 hours after a two-tank dive) or ascending above 2,500 ft.
