About the Tour

Join an intimate group and paddle through the expansive waters of Hilo Bay with a local nature-lover guiding the way. This coastal adventure offers sweeping views of Mauna Kea, the Hamakua Coast, and the vibrant shoreline of Hilo as you explore one of Hawaiʻi’s most scenic bays.

Along the route you’ll visit Coconut Island (Moku Ola), a small park rich with history where warriors once swam for healing and restoration. Today it offers grassy lawns, calm coves for wading, and a stone tower that locals often use for jumping into the bay.

While Hilo Bay provides some natural protection, this is still an open-water paddle where wind, small swells, or changing weather may influence conditions. Guests should be comfortable paddling for an extended period while enjoying an adventurous coastal environment.

Note: Bay paddling means splashy decks—you will likely get wet during the journey.
