About the Lesson

Learn the basics of stand up paddling in one of Hilo’s most protected oceanfront areas. This one hour lesson takes place in Reeds Bay, where sheltered water and a gradual learning environment make it a great place to begin your paddleboarding journey.

Your instructor will start on shore with a simple introduction to safety, balance, paddling technique, and board control. Once in the water, you’ll practice step by step while building confidence at your own pace. As you paddle along the edge of Banyan Drive, enjoy scenic ocean views, local history, and a relaxed setting designed for learning.
